Unhappy Oh God I Need Help

Ok, simply put, later in my English Class assignments I'm gonna have to start doing poetry. Just so you know (no offence by the way....) I REALLY DON'T LIKE POETRY!!
Whenever I do poems, they're jokes, funny, not serious. But these assignments are probably gonna make me do these super serious ones.
I don't know what to do at this point...
And don't bother saying "you should enjoy poetry and stuff ", because like I said before...I will NEVER DO SERIOUS POETRY!! EVER!!

    So....any ideas?
    No matter what you say.....
    Spoiler Alert!
    Ragna.
    Spoiler Alert!
    Does Not.
    Spoiler Alert!

    APPROVE!!!

    Spoiler Alert!

Well for me, I do some pretty serious poetry, and the inspiration was emotion.
So I guess, try to find quite an important moment in your life or something and convert it into poetry! if this doesn't help, then Im sorry D:
Maybe someone else will come and give you better advice lol.

You could pay me in gold bullions and ill do it for you, lyrics are my world (and poetry falls into that spectrum)

but all i can suggest, find SOMETHING that lets you speak with interest.

Poetry comes to me when I have fallen into a certain emotional mood. All of my poetry has been serious and pretty deep.
I would say my recent poetry revolves around Spiritual Searching, Understanding and Finding Myself.
My choice of music while writing or typing is New Age and Instrumental. Recently, I've listened to Medwyn Goodall's "With Every Breathe" and Enya's "And Winter Came" cds. There is one song that takes me back to a dream I had when I was 6 years old. I'd have to look it up. But the song inspired me to write about it.

There are some writings though that come from dreams and experiences. Some, I've already posted. Others, I won't due to the fact that they are really personal. :|

Well I agree with the idea to pick an important moment on your life, but a big thing with people that don't write they forget you don't have to rhyme. When I first started that's what I bad to keep reminding myself. Or you can even express your dislike for the use of words In poetry. Lol, and you can even us slang if u wish

    Hope I helped a little

Well sometimes i like to write joke poetry and sometimes serious. i find that a lot of the serious stuff comes from some deep thing inside of me. Poetry is usually used to share what's "inside" and that may sound cheesy (okay really cheesy) but if there is something you are truly afraid of, or truly hate, then write about that. I find that nowdays its a lot easier to write about darker topics.. but that may just be me
Maybe it isn't the topic that is hard, possibly the writing process? Try just describing things. Say i'm afraid of the dark:
    The night strangles me
    pulls at my hair
    i can hardly breathe.
    Black is all i see
    when i open my eyes
    it fills my heart
    with dread.

Or something like that idk whatever. Just try to describe it in the longest way possible XD and a thesaurus helps

hope you find inspiration and a good grade

Just write about anything you like to do, anything you found interesting, and anything that you don't like to do.

There was already some great advice, but mine is that you write out some intense feelings you have for someone or something. just write it out, list it out, whatever. and then look at it, organize similar ones, maybe change some words, brighten some adjectives and organize it. it wont be the prettiest piece of poetry, but its a place to start.

Usually sitting back, away from people, and noises, aside from things that get you into a cetain emtional stand-point, helps. Sit back, and don't put a lot of thought into it. And don't try to title your poems either. Titles, though they are just words at the top or to the side, on the page, psychologically restrict you to writing about the title itself, causing an extremely short "leash" on your creativeness. Don't even THINK of a title until you have finished your poem(s).

Think back to a serious point in your life... even depressing. Think of how you felt during those times, and just write your feelings out, in your own little way. Poems don't have to ryhme either. Once you write one good poem, at least to you, words will start to flow easier from your brain, to your hand, and it'll become easier over time. The tricks are just to not try to put so much thought into it, let it flow, and name it when it is complete, not at the beginning, so as to not psychologically restrict yourself to write about your title, allowing yourself to spread your creative wings, and float to several objects of concern.

    Formula for poetry:

Take whatever important ideas you have that pertain to you personally or the whole of humanity, and I don't mean this in a poetic way; you must have some important thoughts. Then, use "interesting" grammar and poetic sounding words to describe it. Create arbitrary enjambment. That's really all there is to it.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself between the sounds
and open wide to suck it in, I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out, I'm reaching for the random or
what ever will bewilder me, what ever will bewilder me and
Following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
