Adult Cyberbullying

@ mellingsan... i wont lower my self to repost the insulting and inappropriate pictures you posted. Obviously you've never been bullied. that's such a typical attitude to blame the victim and expect them to leave the website, rather than dealing with the bully. But then again I guess anyone who would post a picture making fun of mentally impaired people really would know more about being a bully.

Take what I posted as you will, however, unlike most people, I've learned to deal with the people on the internet that do such insulting acts rather than getting angry about it. A good majority of the time, the victim responds to a bully in such a way the allows the bully to continue to insult and degrade them. Simply responding to the bully is enough for this to continue, whereas if the victim learned to not respond and take appropriate measures with the tools they had available, the bullying would cease after a given time. Although what I said about the victim deserving to be bullied, I'll say that was wrong, but only to a point. You really shouldn't be responding to them, but even the best people fly off the hook sometimes.

As for you taking insult to the arguing on the internet picture, I'll remove it, as I didn't intend for it to be insulting, and I apologize for that. Also, nowhere in my post did I say to leave the website, I just said to go do something else, which was intended to mean to leave to another page (as in, on the same website) to go do something else. I also never said about not dealing with it, as I clearly stated that, should the site you're on care enough about such things, to report the bully to the moderators and administrators. I'll rewrite it to be more clear.

Thanks for taking that pic down. yeah i guess youre right about not responding to them. i think its most hard when the person who bullies you is someone who you used to be friends with. i think thats why one would want to respond to them, in hopes that you can solve the problem or that they'll be nice again. but i guess it doesnt ever work

That... doesn't really work. It just turns you into a pushover.
The bully thinks that they've gained power over you and will use this to hurt you more than they have already by ruining whatever relationships you have and demeaning you in whatever way possible because they think you won't do anything about it.

There have also been times when someone has tried to do something about a bully, but no one responded.
Good job, internet wide mods.


A definition to those who are too lazy to find it themselves:
"Bullying is an act of repeated aggressive behavior in order to intentionally hurt another person, physically or mentally."

Bullying is not someone randomly commenting or being mean to you. It's a constant thing.
So let's say I decide to bully you. Because I think it's fun.
I drop a mean comment here or there.
You ignore it.
I start badmouthing you.
You ask me to stop, I insult you more.
Maybe I'll get some other people to come along and harass you too.
You report us, we insult you along the lines of poultry.
We get banned, we come back with new accounts.

Best way to deal with these people is to actually go to "real life" authorities aka POLICE.
You could try getting their IP address banned (I'm not sure how that works), but then they could just go to a public domain, like a library or a school.
Just go to the police and ask them to physically track down these people.
Make sure to have proof of the bullying, like screenshots of their comments and such.

@Lululelouchlamperougeluffy .... Once again very well put. It is so true and so hurtful when the bullying is ongoing and they then get other people to get involved as well. Do you really think the police would help. I'm not so sure they would. I couldn't get my local police to do anything when my car was broken into, and like so many people on here, i bet they would treat it like it was a joke or it was your fault.

It is also hard to get mods or website staff to get involved as well, you are right about that. They often just ignore you, I guess because they don't want to deal with it either. I personally know someone who has been banned at least 4 times by reports from several different people I assume and she keeps coming back.

Cyber-bulling has been around for yonks.
Nothings really changed, people out there are still as horrible as ever.
It just shows some people do even think for a second how what they're doing will affect others, short term and long term.
I just find it a heartless thing to do and people should think before they act.
But that most likely wont happen..

I've never been cyberbullied before but I've been told that's what you're supposed to do, and the police are supposed to help you. Actually, now that I think about it, there's a lot of things the public authorities are supposed to do that they don't, and a lot of things they're not supposed to do that they do do.


Wow, that person is very... persistent.

Yeah, bullying in general is a huge problem. I don't understand how people can be so horrible to each other and laugh at it and how other people just ignore it and tell them to "suck it up".

Finally after a year and a half of bullying and one final particularily aggressive attack, the person was ip banned from this website. Its so sad it had to come to that. And so sad it took that long for it to be dealt with.

It's horrible. Cyberbullying is the most common out of all of the others. More and more people use the web everyday, so be nice and respect others. Its a really good thing that OMGPOP doesn't have many mean people.
