Just pack whatever you can. I've never traveled to England, but I Skype with a friend who lives near there. He says it's a lot of fun, and there are a lot of historical sites you can visit, as well as some interesting landmarks. The translation from dollars to pounds (or what their currency is) is actually pretty reasonable, so whatever amount you bring should be sufficient.

Don't worry about getting lost, either; I hear their tour guides and maps are pretty good.

Haha. The centre of London isn't so bad. Just busy. I expect you're going to want to see the landmarks. Some people think London is full of rude people, but it's not the Londoners who're rude, but other tourists/commuters... in my experience anyway.

I'm going to London in 2 weeks! I don't think the people will bother me, I've heard English people are very gentle and polite. Unlike the greedy sober dutchies in Holland, lol.
