though, some popular people are mean, some aren't. Some popular people are popular because of their self confidence or something, and their ego makes them come off mean.
Some popular people, most popular people in my experience, are just genuinely nice people.

I think they're so popular because they act like they're above everyone else. Therefore, everyone wants to be like them and idolize them. But they're not going to have any true friends to stick up for them when they're in a time of need. So don't be like them (:

I was popular through school my whole life and I don't think I ever was mean, the time's I was mean was when other kids started being mean first.
Then there was a rumor around school that I was a lesbian.
There's mean people everywhere.
Whether you like it or not someone will be mean to you and you just have to ignore it and be friendly to people.
I think I was popular in school because I was really nice and outgoing to people and I was a lot of fun & I was dating the schools football player. I think you should just ignore people who are mean and be friendly to people to those who aren't mean. Some people do take whatever you say as mean though even if you mistakenly say one ignorant thing they will take it out on you.

Well some popular people are nice and funny. At my school, it's the people who have cool clothes and communicates good and funny who's the popular ones. Not necessarily the mean ones.

I have to agree with lonewolf1994. Confidence attracts attention of all kinds because it's an attractive trait to have. Whether it be friends or girl/boyfriends.

Popularity by society's standards is measured by power, friend circles and, sometimes, money. If any of those popular people have those traits, then they are popular.

My definition of popular is: blah, who cares. I don't like attention. I'm emo like that. =X

Because they establish themselves as "dominate" and if you don't agree or listen to them, they use propaganda to get everyone with them so you get singled out and picked on. They use FEAR TO FIT IN against someone.

But, not all popular people are mean. I think you've been watching too much Mean Girls :P
