We ask our members to NEVER give out their email or password. No one EVER needs that information from you. If anyone asks you for it, they are always someone trying to scam you.
Below you'll find a list of the various ways some scum bags try to cheat you, whether its by getting your password or asking you to trade gifts.
Before we continue: The downside to doing this publicly, is it will give others ideas on how to scam people. Keep in mind though, we have a no tolerance policy when it comes to scams. You will just be deleted or worse if you're trying to cheat another user.
Here's the list:
- Someone will tell you to give them your email and password so that they can login and buy you STAR, or use a hack to get STAR or cash, or level you up fast. Do not EVER give out your email or password. It's always a scam. Someone can buy you STAR by emailing us about it.
- Someone might claim they will gift you if you gift them first. They just never gift back, take your gift, unfriend you and run into the sunset. Only gift when you really don't want anything back but a thank you.
- Someone might link you to page where you can fill out your name and password for free STAR, Cash, Coins, levels. ALWAYS A SCAM. It's a page to steal your login. Again, never provide your password or email to anyone. OMGPOP Staff don't need your password, and the only time you need to enter it is when you login to omgpop.
- Someone might ask you to give them coins by letting them win a betting game of Pool or another game. In return they say they'll give you a gift, or STAR, etc. They will just take your money and never give you anything. Do not ever intentionally lose a game to give someone coins.
- Some people try to trick you by getting you to give up your cellphone number and the PIN number you get in text messages. They are using YOUR phone bill to get Cash and STAR for themselves, and YOU'LL be the one paying. NEVER EVER give out your phone number, and definitely don't give out any info you get via text.
I have actually had to contact the authorities for a few cases. I am especially serious about pressing charges against scammers. So don't do it.
If you find someone that DOES ask you for your email or password, use the Report button on them and send us an email with their profile name.
