I think they are...if you have an important info to post and you're too excited to wait (or if you forgot to add something in your post...but that's what edit is used for)
Still...I find it annoying when people post A LOT (e.g. 100) in the same thread...unless it's a Game Thread of course

I generally only double-post if I have something important to add that I don't want to risk editing into the post because the person may have already seen it and not be aware of the update.
